Goytside Farm in New MillsRural Support

Over 50% of the Peak District National Park is farmed land worked by around 2500 farms.

All of the National Park is classified as a Less Favoured Area, so that farmers qualify for higher rates of grant than those in the lowlands. The National Park Authority encourages farming to diversify from a single purpose industry concerned only with food production.

The research report Hard Times looked at income levels for hill farmers in the Peak District and the impact of government policy on their quality of life.
